Academic institutions hold the responsibility to promote and inculcate the spirit of research within the
staff and students. Research is the salient factor which promotes academic excellence and decides
accreditation and competitiveness of the institution. Research facilities the faculty and students of an
institution to observe and analyze topics critically and get better understanding. Government College for
Women (A) Srikakulam understands the importance of research in curriculum andencourages it’s
students and faculty to get benefitted by undertaking research activities. Consequently, GCW (A)
Srikakulam was nominated as Research Centre by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar University, Etcherla, Srikakulam in
2022. Taking the mentioned factors into consideration GCW (A) Srikakulam framed and implentedits
Research Policy.
Purpose
The purpose of this research policy is to create an amicable atmosphere among faculty and inculcate
research interest within students. The policy would act as a framework to carry on research activities in
the college. The policy is created in adherence with the Vision and Mission of the college. The policy
would ensure that the topics taken up for the research are relevant and benefit the society as a whole.
Scope
ThisResearch Policy would act as the basic guidelines for the functioning of Research and Development
Committee of the college. The research policy would be taken as reference in case of any ethical issues.
The Research Policy would be applicable to all the staff members of all academic and non-academic
departments of the college, students enrolled in the college, external experts andsponsors.
Structure of Research Advisory Committee
The Research Advisory Committee comprises of Principal as Chairperson, a senior faculty member as
coordinator, three senior facultyas members, one industry/academic representative and two meritorious
students.
Objectives of Research Policy
1. To create a basic framework following which the research activities in the college would be
carried out.
2. To create Research Policies adhering to which research scholars would be allocated to the
selected staff members, required equipment would be procured and finances related to research
would be managed.
3. To encourage ethical practices of research.
4. To create opportunities for researchers and innovators to identify potential collaborators from
research organizations, academic institutions and industries to collaborate and carry on research
effectively.
5. To maintain amicable relationships with other bodies of Research in order to get better guidance
and opportunities to carry out research.
6. To make better utilization of resources and opportunities available for research.
7. To conduct trainings, workshops, seminars and conferences to increase the quality of research.
8. To avail the services of superannuated staff, alumni and locally available experts for the purpose
of conducting research.
9. To encourage staff and students to communicate research related findings to society through
publication in reputes journals.
10. To guide faculty members to integrate research projects with regular curriculum.
Research Policy
GCW (A) Srikakulam has a well defined Research Policy which would be followed by all the staff, students
and other personnel connected to the college.
Basic andapplied research of original quality will be conducted in the fields of sciences,
commerce and humanities.
1. The research carried out in the college would be on relevant topics which are beneficial to the
students and society.
2. Faculty members who are interested to guide Ph.D. students should obtain permission from
affiliated universities.
3. Students for Ph.D. program will be allotted by the university to the concerned faculty guides
recognized by the university.
4. The Research Development Committee nominated by the Principal of the college will monitor all
the research activities in the college.
5. The decisions taken by Research Development Committee members will be considered as final in
case of any discrepancies and ethical issues.
6. The faculty and students should publish their research papers only in journals with good impact
factors listed in Scopus, Web of Sciences and UGC Care.
7. The infrastructure to conduct research will be purchased after careful consideration of Research
Development Committee members and the expenses will be met from available financial
sources of the college or from the sponsoring agencies.
8. Interested departments can conduct seminars, workshops and conferences related to research
under the supervision of Research Development Committee.
9. Evaluation of Student Study Projects, Internships and Apprenticeship will be conducted under
the monitoring of Research Development Committee.
